Airports are an integral part of the Bay Area transportation system, and play a central role in meeting the travel and economic needs of the Bay Area’s residents and businesses. The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), and the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) invite you to join in an air traffic study for Bay Area airports that is addressing capacity problems while balancing regional environmental and economic issues.

The region’s three primary commercial airports, Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose, serve not only residents and visitors to the Bay Area but air travelers from outside the Bay Area.  Thus, the study includes, Sacramento, Stockton, and Monterey airports, as these airports could serve new airline routes and reduce flights at Bay Area airports. In addition the study is looking at some of the Bay Area's general aviation and federal/military airports to assess the potential for limited air passenger service.
